Wife. Mother. Grandmother. Nurse. Dog mama. Survivor.
I have gone by all of those names and still I realised that the choice for me was clear.

After dropping out of school and failing grade 10, I spent my whole life pushing to achieve my full potential - later in life I completed a Bachelor of Nursing and two post graduate degrees. I’ve worn every hat in nursing - emergency nurse, RN, Clinical Facilitator, CNC, Associate Nurse Unit Manager and Nurse Unit Manager - you name it, I’ve been there.

That is, until the COVID-19 pandemic, where I realised something had to change. After burning the candle at both ends, I suffered two workplace injuries, which led to spinal surgery and the end of my nursing career. With an 18 month recovery that encapsulated burnout, exhaustion, chronic pain and severe adrenal overload, I had to make a choice to live my life by design.

The epiphany hit me - I wanted to spend more time with my family. I wanted a simpler life enjoying the beach, with my dogs, travelling and doing the things I love the most. So what had to change?
